What Happened to Maiden’s Tower ?
One of the most popular tourist attraction in Turkey’s Istanbul The Maiden’s Tower has allegedly been partly demolished as part of a restoration work.
Some videos and photos of the historical building show the upper part was demolished as vessels travelling around can be seen through the fronts. However another photo apparently taken later shows the upper part was re-built.
An official statement regarding the current state of the Maiden’s Tower claimed that the restoration work progresses as planned with the cone part being departed from the building in compliance with universal protection principles.
UPDATE : Restoration has been completed.
